Former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Vernon Wells will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Game 5 of the ALCS at Rogers Centre.
Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The FAN confirmed the news on Twitter.
Wells, 36, spent 12 seasons with the Blue Jays, recording 223 home runs and 813 RBI with an .804 OPS in 1,393 games.
The three-time all-star never appeared in a post-season game with the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays have already had Cito Gaston, Pat Hentgen, George Bell, Devon White, and Carlos Delgado throw out ceremonial opening pitches during their playoff home games.
First pitch for Game 5 is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. ET on Wednesday afternoon, with coverage beginning on Sportsnet at 3 p.m. ET. The Royals lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.
