One of the top pitching prospects in the Toronto Blue Jays organization may require Tommy John surgery. Roberto Osuna’s elbow problems could lead to ligament replacement surgery, Shi Davidi reported.
Osuna had begun the season with the Blue Jays’ Class A Lansing affiliate. The 18-year-old left his most recent start with right elbow discomfort and was placed on the disabled list.
He visited Dr. James Andrews, who diagnosed the torn UCL. Surgery hasn’t been recommended yet.
Osuna pitched in 12 games at rookie ball and Class A in 2012, striking out 49 in 43.2 innings. He started five games in 2013 before being placed on the disabled list.
