Anthony Davis says his Looney Tunes homage was unintentional.
After requesting a trade in February, the 26-year-old wore a T-shirt that said “That’s all Folks!” to the New Orleans Pelicans‘ final game of the season on Tuesday.
Now, the six-time all-star is claiming someone else picks his pre-game outfits for him every night.
“I had no control that night,” Davis said. “I just put it on.”
The Porky Pig reference is just the latest chapter of the Davis drama.
Davis was fined $50,000 following his public trade request, which caused a flurry of rumours and controversy. The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly even offered a package involving at least four different players – including youngsters Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram – and several draft picks for the former first-overall pick.
Alas, Davis finished the season with the Pelicans and will likely seek a trade again this summer.
It remains to be seen whether he’ll still need help getting dressed in his new locker room.
