Arenas shelved as knee still an issue

WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas had his surgically repaired left knee drained for the second time in three weeks Wednesday and missed a third consecutive practice.

Still, Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said he expects Arenas to play against the New Jersey Nets on Thursday night.

Arenas said his knee felt stiff after Washington’s loss to the Orlando Magic on Saturday that dropped the Wizards to 0-3. He hasn’t practised since.

“It feels like a five-pound weight is on it,” he said that night.

Arenas did not speak to reporters after practice Wednesday. He had the knee drained Oct. 17.
