Biyombo forced to sit out first game of 2016-17 due to suspension

All the very best from the Toronto Raptors 2016 playoff run, also known as the ‘Bismack Biyombo audition tape.’

Bismack Biyombo has been suspended and will be inactive for the first game of the 2016-17 season.

As first reported by Alex Kennedy, Biyombo is being penalized for incurring too many flagrant fouls during the Toronto Raptors‘ recent playoff run.

But it was the six-foot-nine 23 year-old centre’s fourth flagrant — an elbow to the face of Kevin Love — that ultimately earned him the suspension.

Biyombo is expected to enter free agency, where he will be one of the most coveted big men on the market. He’ll lose pay over the suspension, but with a projected annual salary expected to be anywhere between $12-$16 million, he’ll be able to afford it.
