HERAKLION, Greece — Canada’s under-19 men’s basketball team is 3-0 at the 2015 FIBA World Championship after beating Italy 78-54 on Tuesday.
Justin Jackson scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Canadian squad, which went into the game after two consecutive victories over Tunisia and Australia.
Jalen Poyser added 13 points, Corey Johnson chipped in with 12 points, and Jadon Cohee added nine more for Canada.
"A very positive win for our U-19 men," head coach Roy Rana said. "Our bench was an important factor and I’m proud of the attention and focus the boys gave towards executing the game plan."
The game started off evenly matched with the score tied 19-19 at the end of the first quarter.
Canada began picking up momentum in the second quarter, ending the first half ahead by five points at 35-30.
Canada head into the fourth quarter with a 58-41 lead.
