The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed 6-foot-11 Toronto native Dwight Powell.
Powell was taken 45th overall in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, but was traded to the Cavaliers in mid July.
The 23-year-old spent his last four years at Stanford where he was named to the All-Pac-12 team in 2013 and 2014.
In three Summer League games played with the Cavaliers, Powell put up averages of five points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.
Powell will join fellow Canadian Tristan Thompson on a Cavaliers team that at one point appeared to have four Canadians. However, with the reported Kevin Love trade expected to become official sometime on Saturday and Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett heading out, the Cavs to house just two Canucks.
