The Boston Celtics will be without forward Gordon Hayward for at least four weeks after suffering a Grade III right ankle sprain, the team announced Tuesday.

Hayward left Monday’s Game 1 win over the Philadelphia 76ers after landing awkwardly while chasing a loose ball late in the game.

In 2017, he fractured his left tibia and dislocated his left ankle in the first game of the season, forcing him to miss the entire campaign.

During the 2019-20 season, Hayward averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 50 per cent shooting from the field and 38.3 per cent from three.

Game 2 between the Celtics and 76ers is scheduled for Wednesday night.
