Celtics sign centre Aron Baynes; averaged 5 pts last season

WALTHAM, Mass. — The Boston Celtics have signed free agent centre Aron Baynes.

The 6-foot-10 former Detroit Piston and San Antonio Spur has averaged 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in his career. He played in 75 games last year for the Pistons, starting two, averaging 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 15.5 minutes. He signed with the Spurs after going undrafted, and won a title with San Antonio in 2014.

The Celtics are coming off a season in which they earned the No. 1 seed in the East before losing in the conference finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
