Cuban: DeAndre Jordan ‘never responded to me’

DeAndre Jordan made it official that he was coming back to the Clippers, despite a verbal agreement he made with the Dallas Mavericks.

Emojis, tents and an $87-million contract.

Wednesday was a wild day for DeAndre Jordan and the Los Angeles Clippers, as the 26-year-old spurned the Dallas Mavericks in favour of returning to the Clips on a massive four-year deal.

In the midst of all the madness, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban became the centre of attention as it became more apparent Jordan was staying in L.A.

On Thursday, Cuban released a statement via Cyber Dust in the wake of Wednesday’s events:

"Dear Mavs fans.

There will be a time when I detail everything I know regarding the last 48 hours.

I don’t think the time is right to say anything beyond the facts that he never responded to me at all yesterday. Not once. To this minute I have not heard anything from him since Tuesday night.

More importantly, I specifically told Wes that I would not hold him to his commitment if he wanted to go elsewhere. I can’t print his exact response, but suffice it to say he is excited to play for our Mavs :) Wes Matthews is exactly the type of player we want in a Mavs uniform and our fans will love him

He will be in Dallas today so if you see him give him an MFFL welcome”

This surely isn’t the last we’ve heard from Cuban on this issue.

Stay tuned.
