So there was no alt-Kevin Durant after all?
Just one day after a bizarre alternate Twitter account discovery was supposedly made, the Golden State Warriors superstar forward has apologized for taking shots at his former team and coach.
“I do have another Instagram account, but that’s just for friends, for family, so I wouldn’t say I was using that to ‘clap back’ at anybody,” Durant said speaking at a tech event in San Francisco Tuesday. “But I use Twitter to engage with the fans. I think it’s a great way to engage with basketball fans, and I happened to take it too far.
“I don’t regret clapping back at anybody or talking to my fans on Twitter. I do regret using my former coach’s name and the former organization that I played for. That was childish, that was idiotic, all those type of words. I regret doing that and I apologize.”
So Durant’s saying he definitely has an alternate Instagram account, but not one for Twitter? The apology he’s issuing to Billy Donovan and the Oklahoma City Thunder seems to verify that, but it’s hard to say definitively.
The possibility that he just slipped up with an alternate account still exists but whether Durant was using one or not is moot now. It happened and he has apologized for it. Just be aware that if you tweet something critical at Durant, there’s a chance he’ll see it and won’t think twice about responding.
