TORONTO — Toronto Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani is expected to miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury.

Bargnani suffered an avulsion sprain to his right elbow in the first quarter of Toronto’s 118-116 road loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night and did not return.

The Raptors said the injury is not related to Bargnani’s previous right elbow ailment that forced the 27-year-old Italian to miss 26 games between Dec. 12 and Feb. 3.
Prior to this injury, Bargnani had appeared in 14 of 15 games, including four straight starts.

The seven-foot, 256-pound Bargnani did not travel with Toronto to Boston, where the Raptors are scheduled to face the Celtics on Wednesday night.
