Watching a Harlem Globetrotter sink an improbable shot is sort of like seeing a young Roy Munson bowl a perfect strike. You never expected any different, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive.
The world’s most famous exhibition team was in Toronto on Tuesday ahead of their annual Canadian tour, which tips-off this weekend, and took to the old Maple Leaf Gardens, now called the Mattamy Athletic Centre, rafters to show off some of the tricks of their trade:
That right there is Globetrotters guard Buckets Blakes, who only needed one previous attempt before swishing through the tough shot. It’s a big year for the Globetrotters, who celebrate their 90th year in existence, forming just five years before the opening of Maple Leaf Gardens.
