The New Orleans Hornets have signed Lou Amundson for the remainder of the season and released Henry Sims.

Amundson was with the Chicago Bulls on a 10-day contract which expired Monday but decided to sign with the Hornets for a better opportunity for playing time.

“Chicago was prepared to sign me to another 10-day, but I felt I should go somewhere where I can get a better opportunity to play,” Amundson wrote in a text message sent to FOX Sports Florida’s Chris Tomasson.

The Bulls had five games in Amundson’s 10 days with the team but only saw the floor for two minutes in one appearance.

Amundson began the season in Minnesota, appearing in 20 games with the Timberwolves before being waived on Feb. 8.

In 21 total contests this season, Amundson averaged 1.5 points, 2.3 rebounds in 7.8 minutes of play.
