Our neighbours to the south just had an election. The candidates are always clamouring about equal time, when it comes to hearing both sides of the story before you vote.
It seems the Cleveland fans are still upset over LeBrin James exit from their city. So in the spirit of equal time, you take a look at what the Cavs fans answer to LeBron’s question of "what should I do?".
If, LeBron was upset with the burning of his jersey the night he made the decision, then he’s not going to like that video compilation very much now is he? I wonder what security will be like when he returns to Cleveland for the Heat’s matchup with the Cavaliers. It will be good to finally get it out of the way, but on the other hand there is a cynical side of the populace that says there will be a mysterious injury that keeps him out of the game.
Now, I’m not sure how you feel about LeBron James exit from Cleveland and where you would vote, but if you want to know how I feel, you can look back at this from last week.
It looks like veteran centre Erick Dampier will not be joining the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets could certainly use him to help in the middle, as Yao Ming’s minutes are still being restricted. But at this point in his career, it’s all about winning and with Houston struggling out of the gate, the idea of Dampier joining the team doesn’t seem like such a good one. It would not surprise me to see Dampier pull a veteran move, and knowing that he is a valuable commodity, wait until later in the season before signing with a contender. Could it be Miami? Yep, the Heat and a number of other teams are back in the running and the one spot where the Heat have shown to be vulnerable, is the middle due to a lack of size. Are the Raptors still in the mix? Well if you believe that they were truly his second choice, then they may yet be an option.
It sure says something about Kevin Durant, the way he handled the opportunity to have a chance to play a little pick up hoops with the Commander-In-Chief, Barack Obama. Durant took the opportunity to share the spotlight, with teammates Eric Maynor and James Harden. The MVP from this past summer’s World Championship also made sure that his mother and grandmother were present too. It’s the same way he shared the spotlight on the cover of Sports Illustrated with a couple of teammates, Nenad Krstic and Thabo Sefolosha. He felt they were valuable, but didn’t always get the mention they deserve. The kid gets it.
Maybe it’s about trying to manage the expectations but with the Lakers off to an undefeated start at 7-0, the longest undefeated start for a defending champ since the 2000-01 Lakers squad, there is talk of a 72-win season. Head coach Phil Jackson, who was at the helm of that Bulls squad, says it’s not happening. Jackson listed a number of reasons why it’s not going to happen and it may not be just the coach trying to take the pressure off his team. Some of the Chicago players on that team said it was great but winning 70 games means nothing, if you don’t win the title and that’s what happened the next season, when they settled for 69 wins but still picked up another title.
