Kevin Durant will miss Thursday’s game between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets with a strained right calf.
The drama surrounding a game featuring the top two teams in the Western Conference has diminished, with James Harden having already been ruled out for at least two weeks with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.
In late September, the NBA announced that it will fine teams at least $100,000 for resting healthy players in high-profile games (national TV games), and this one is scheduled to be broadcasted on TNT.
It will be interesting to see if the league does anything in this scenario, as there was nothing that occurred prior to this report to suggest that Durant was injured. He had 25 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and four blocks in a win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
Both teams are on the second night of a back-to-back.
