Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni doubts point guard Steve Nash will return to the court this season.
Nash, 40, has appeared in only 10 games this season in his second straight injury-laden campaign with the Lakers. The Canadian has averaged 7.6 points, 4.7 assists and 1.9 steals in 22 minutes per
game in 2013-14. He recently re-aggravated a nerve injury in his leg during a brief four-game stint with the club in February. The two-time NBA MVP sustained a fracture in his leg during his first month with the Lakers last season in a collision with Portland’s Damian Lillard.
Nash signed a three-year, $27 million deal when he was acquired by Los Angeles in a sign-and-trade agreement with the Phoenix Suns in the summer of 2012.
It remains unclear if the veteran point guard has interest in playing out the final year of his contract. He is scheduled to earn $9.7million next season.
