Royal foul from King James leaves UK up in arms

Fans at the Barclays Center are in the midst of not one but two royal couples, with Prince William and Kate Middleton taking in the action, along with Jay Z and Beyonce.

LeBron James may be nicknamed the King, but judging by his first encounter with true royalty, he probably didn’t go to British finishing school.

On Monday, James and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Nets in Brooklyn, with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (AKA Kate Middleton) sitting courtside.

Following the victory, James had a chance to meet the Duke and Duchess and seemed genuinely star-struck. However, the NBA all-star apparently broke royal protocol with a friendly gesture, by putting his arm around Middleton during a photo op.

This apparently is big news in the UK, where The Telegraph did an entire feature story on the “incident.”

LeBron is probably used to getting away with hand-checking on his opponents, but did he actually commit a foul this time?
