Let’s be honest: when you boil it all down, social media is all just one big pat on the back. It’s our way of showing (or sometimes showing off) what we’re doing on a daily basis. But LeBron James took it several steps further on Tuesday when he took to Instagram to literally congratulate himself for a big milestone he’s about to hit.
Currently sitting at 29,993 career NBA points, LeBron is just seven shy of joining an elite group of league legends to reach the 30,000-point milestone. He’s poised to join Dirk Nowitzki, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the seventh player in NBA history to register 30,000 career points when the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the San Antonio Spurs Tuesday night.
A huge accomplishment, no doubt. But the Instagram post? It’s a bit much.
