A great deal of digital ink has gone into explaining the value of Kawhi Leonard’s stoic demeanour to a Toronto Raptors team that, until these playoffs, was known for being rattled when the lights shine brightest.
But following the Raptors’ loss in Game 2 of the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors, Leonard’s tune was decidedly more colourful.
After head coach Nick Nurse said to his team that all they had to do when facing the Warriors on the road was get one win, Leonard responded with the following:
“‘Expletive’ that let’s get both.”
By any measure, the team appeared to take the mindset to heart.
Toronto went on to dominate Game 3 by a score of 123-109 and took Game 4 as well, winning 105-92, to set up the chance to close out the Finals at home.
