The Orlando Magic have waived veteran forward Al Harrington.
The 33-year-old was scheduled to earn $14.7 million, 50 per cent of which was guaranteed, over the next two seasons.
Magic GM Rob Henningan tried to move Harrington in a trade before ultimately deciding to use a buyout.
A staph infection in his knee limited his lone season in Orlando and he made his debut in February.
Harrington played a total of 10 games for the Magic in 2012-13, averaging just 5.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.4 steals per game.
He was acquired by the Magic as part of the mega-deal that sent Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers last summer.
Over his 15-year NBA career, Harrington has played for the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets and the Magic.
