NEW YORK — The New York Knicks waived guard Cuttino Mobley on Monday, more than a year after he retired because of a heart condition.

The move the Knicks with 14 players on their roster.

Mobley was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in a four-player trade in November 2008. His heart condition was discovered during a physical and he retired three weeks later.

The Knicks could have voided the deal because of the health concerns, but waived the physical requirement because the trade allowed them to move Zach Randolph’s contract, freeing salary cap space for this summer.
