In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, LeBron James put the Cleveland Cavaliers on his shoulders, but he couldn’t carry them to a win.
Steph Curry and the Warriors came through at home in a game that was as close as could be until the very end.
Here’s how it all went down:
First Quarter
The Cavaliers got off to a strong start at the raucous Oracle Arena outscoring the Warriors 29-19. Kyrie Irving made his presence known at both ends of the floor early on.
Second Quarter
Cleveland barely held on to its lead in the second, but the frame was all Warriors. Curry and Draymond Green both woke up in a big way, making some huge plays.
Third Quarter
After a highlight-filled second, the third quarter was tame by comparison, but no less tense. Both teams traded buckets to keep the game close.
Fourth Quarter
LeBron just kept pouring it on, but it seemed like the Warriors had a counter punch for each of his buckets. Irving’s block on Golden State’s last possession was a potential game-saver for the Cavaliers.
Overtime
After a tightly-contested game, the Cavaliers appeared to have nothing left in the tank and the Warriors outscored them 10-2 in the extra frame.
