The NBA revealed the jerseys for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, as well as other weekend events, Friday morning.

The main contest, played on the Sunday (Feb. 16), will see players donning traditional red (for the team drafted by LeBron James, the Western Conference’s captain) and blue (for the team drafted by Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Eastern Conference’s captain) garb, which have been part of the primary colour palette throughout league history.

The NBA has experimented with various All-Star jerseys before, from cactus-embroidered purple and orange (Phoenix, 1995) to players simply wearing their regular game-day duds (1997-2002), but evidently chose to avoid anything particularly radical this year.

Of course, there is always some sort of twist to the look every go-round, even if it’s not an eye-popping one. This year, the colours of the eight jerseys are representative of the eight tracks of Chicago’s (the host city) transit line: The All-Star Game gets red and blue, the Rising Stars Game gets purple and orange, the Celebrity Game gets green and pink and the Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game gets brown and yellow.

This season’s designs were produced by Jordan Brand and Nike.
