Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire switched to a diet which featured a mixture of asparagus, Brussels sprouts and salads while sidelined with a knee injury to start the season and he believes it has worked wonders with his recovery.
“It purifies the red blood cells and eliminates toxins,” Stoudemire told the New York Post. “It fortifies the blood. It helped me recover and persevere through injuries. I did that for three months. I wanted to really give myself the best opportunity to remain healthy.”
Stoudemire recently took a week off from the diet but was back on the new meal plan before the Knicks loss to Washington.
“I just needed a break,” Stoudemire admitted as he missed some of his favourite foods.
“It was tough,” Stoudemire said. “I love chicken and I love Chilean seabass. I missed it. But I wanted to stay strong.”
