New Orleans Pelicans prized rookie Zion Williamson will miss the team’s final pre-season contest against the New York Knicks with right knee soreness.

Williamson was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft out of Duke.

The 19-year-old had been impressing during the pre-season, averaging 23.2 points and 6.5 rebounds on 71.4 per cent shooting.

Williamson’s Pelicans will open their regular season against the defending NBA champion Toronto Raptors on Oct. 22. There’s been no word yet on what Williamson’s status for that game might be.
