New Orleans Pelicans‘ star rookie Zion Williamson has returned to the NBA bubble in Orlando, Fla., the team announced Friday evening.
Williamson, who left the bubble last week to tend to “an urgent family matter,” was tested daily for COVID-19 during his absence and produced negative tests for all of them. The minimum amount of time Williamson will have to quarantine is four days, in accordance with the NBA’s protocol.
“My family and I appreciate the love and respect that everyone showed us while we dealt with a private family matter,” Williamson said in a statement released by the team. “I‘m excited to rejoin my team in Orlando and look forward to getting back on the court with my teammates after quarantine.”
A four-day quarantine would mean Williamson could play on July 30, when the Pelicans take on the Utah Jazz in the first seeding game taking place at Disney.
The former Duke star has played in 19 games this season, averaging 23.6 points and 6.8 rebounds.
