Powell scores 23 as Raptors improve to 3-0 in Summer League

Norman Powell sparked the Toronto Raptors in their summer league win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Norman Powell scored a game-high 23 points as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Dallas Mavericks 80-69 in Summer League play Monday.

With the win, the Raptors conclude their preliminary Summer League schedule with a perfect 3-0 record.

Summer League preliminary play ends for all teams on Tuesday, afterwards all teams will be seeded into a tournament that will begin on Wednesday.

Powell has led all scorers in each of the Raptors’ games in Las Vegas so far.

Raptors 2016 ninth-overall pick Jakob Poeltl finished Monday’s contest with nine points and seven rebounds on 4-of-5 shooting.

Fellow Raptors first-rounder Pascal Siakam was kept out of the lineup for the second straight game. Siakam left Toronto’s game against the Sacramento Kings after playing just 15 minutes with a left knee sprain that’s been bothering him.

Bruno Caboclo, the Raptors’ 2014 first-rounder, finished with 12 points and five rebounds, going 4-for-9 from the field and 2-for-6 from three-point range. Caboclo scored 10 of his 12 in the fourth quarter with the Raptors up just 54-49 after three.

Jameel Warney led the Mavericks with 14 points in the loss.

Toronto held Dallas to just 21 points in the first half to lead by 15, but a 28-point Mavericks third quarter evaporated the large lead the Raptors had.
