Raptors’ VanVleet, Anunoby, Wright out vs. Mavericks

Basketball insider Dwight Walton joins Sportsnet's Starting Lineup to outline why for the first time in his life he truly believes the Toronto Raptors have a legitimate chance to win an NBA Championship.

The Toronto Raptors will be without OG Anunoby, Delon Wright and Fred VanVleet Friday night when they host the Dallas Mavericks.

Anunoby is out due to personal reasons, according to the team, while Wright continues to deal with a left adductor strain. Wright was unavailable for the Raptors’ first four games of the season because of the injury. He played five minutes in Wednesday’s win over the Timberwolves.

VanVleet has a sprained left big toe. The 24-year-old has gotten off to a strong start, averaging 11.5 points and 5.3 assists in 24.8 minutes per game.

Jonas Valanciunas will start Friday, with Serge Ibaka coming off the bench.

The Raptors are one of four remaining undefeated teams in the NBA and lead the Eastern Conference with a 5-0 record.

The Mavericks, meanwhile, are off to a 2-2 start with wins over Minnesota and Chicago and losses to Phoenix and Atlanta.
