Raptors betting favourites hosting 76ers for Game 7

Brad Fay and Michael Grange discuss Game 7 between the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers.

The Toronto Raptors will get another chance to advance to the Eastern Finals on Sunday when they hit the hardwood for Game 7 of their second-round series with the Philadelphia 76ers as 6-point favourites on the NBA odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Toronto missed a golden opportunity in Game 6 to close out the series and advance to the conference finals for the first time since 2016, dropping a 112-101 decision in Philadelphia as 1.5-point road chalk that leaves the series knotted at three games apiece going into Sunday night’s 76ers vs. Raptors betting matchup at Scotiabank Arena.

The Raptors had looked poised to knock off the Sixers after tallying a crushing 125-89 win as 6-point home favourites in Game 5, but came out flat in Thursday’s contest, falling behind 29-21 in the first quarter to continue a trend that has seen the team leading at the end of the first frame go on to win each of the first six games of the series.

While the need for a seventh and deciding game has been cause for concern for Raptors fans after the team made early playoff exits in each of the past two seasons, Toronto has risen to the occasion in their recent Game 7 appearances. The Raptors have picked up the win in their past two Game 7 situations, both in 2016 and both on home court, and are set as strong -250 favourites on the moneyline to claim the outright victory on Sunday night.

With their victory in Game 6, the 76ers now sit just one win away from clinching their first berth in the Eastern Finals since 2001. However, Philadelphia owns a checkered track record in Game 7 situations, particularly on the road, where they own a 1-8 all-time record.

The 76ers have also struggled to produce consistent success away from Wells Fargo Center in recent months, going 7-9 straight up in their past 16 road dates, including lopsided losses to the Raptors in Games 1 and 5 of the current series. In addition, the Sixers’ 94-89 win as 7.5-point underdogs in Game 2 marks their only victory in Toronto since November 2012, according to the OddsShark NBA Database.

Overall, the 76ers have averaged just 96 points per game in three series clashes in Toronto. That has benefited bettors taking the UNDER on the totals, which has prevailed in three of the last four meetings between these teams at Scotiabank Arena, and in six of nine overall.

The Sixers head into Sunday’s Game 7 matchup at a distant +2200 on the NBA championship odds, well back of the Raptors, who sit at +900 on those title futures.
