Raptors and Drake honour Humboldt victims, sign Broncos sweater

Serge Ibaka scored 23 points and grabbed 12 boards as the Toronto Raptors took game one against the Washington Wizards 114-106. It was Toronto's first game one victory in ten tries.

The Toronto Raptors won their first Game 1 of a playoff series for the first time in 17 years on Saturday, edging the Washington Wizards 114-106 to take a 1-0 lead in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

For those watching at home, you likely noticed Raptors global ambassador Drake in his usual courtside seats, this time, proudly sporting a Humboldt Broncos sweater to pay tribute to the 16 lives lost in the tragic bus crash earlier this month.

Following the game, Drake went into the Raptors locker room and addressed the team about Humboldt and signed the jersey along with the Raptors players.

It was a nice gesture during an evening that proved to be about much more than basketball.
