Toronto Raptors power forward Serge Ibaka will rest against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, while Fred VanVleet and Lucas Nogueira will sit to nurse injuries sustained against the Orlando Magic on Sunday. Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling reported the update.

Head coach Dwane Casey made it clear that the decisions were precautionary, and with the Raptors having locked up first place in the Eastern Conference, there is really no need to take on any unnecessary risk before the playoffs.

Furthermore, the Pistons have nothing to play for having already been eliminated from post-season contention. They will also be without the services of Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin and Reggie Bullock according to The Athletic’s James Edwards III.
