The Toronto Raptors will be without superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard for Sunday’s meeting against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers due to soreness in his left foot, according to head coach Nick Nurse.
Leonard jammed his ankle during the fourth quarter of the Raptors’ win against the Phoenix Suns Friday. The injury forced him to leave the game, but Toronto fared just fine the rest of the way, cruising to a 107-98 victory to improve its record to 8-1 on the young season.
OG Anunoby will start for the Raptors in Leonard’s place, while Serge Ibaka will return to the starting lineup at centre.
When asked if Leonard will play Monday against the Utah Jazz, Nurse said “I hope so.”
