Raptors’ Kawhi Leonard won’t play Saturday against Wizards

Kawhi Leonard dropped 31 points and recorded his 2nd straight double-double to lead the Raptors to a 113-101 win over the Boston Celtics Friday.

WASHINGTON — Kawhi Leonard is sitting out as the Toronto Raptors play on a second consecutive night.

Leonard did not travel with the Raptors to the nation’s capital for their game at the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.

He had 31 points and 10 rebounds while playing 36 minutes in Toronto’s 113-101 victory over the visiting Boston Celtics on Friday.

Leonard played in only nine games for the San Antonio Spurs last season, mostly because of a quadriceps injury.

Toronto acquired him in an off-season trade that sent DeMar DeRozan to San Antonio.

The Wizards are also without their main off-season pickup, centre Dwight Howard, who is missing a second game in a row with a sore backside.

But Washington coach Scott Brooks said that point guard John Wall is ready to play, despite missing the morning shootaround because of a migraine.
