Raptors’ Nick Nurse named Eastern Conference coach of the month

Michael Grange joins Brad Fay to discuss Nick Nurse and whether there’s enough credit being given for the Toronto Raptors’ start this season.

Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse has been named the NBA’s Eastern Conference coach of the month for games played in October and November, the league announced Monday.

Frank Vogel, head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, was named NBA Western Conference coach of the month.

Nurse coached the Raptors to a 14-4 record, including a perfect 8-0 at Scotiabank Arena, while navigating injuries to key players such as Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka.

Toronto held opposing teams to just 40 per cent shooting from the field, an NBA-best mark.

This is the second time Nurse has earned the honour, having previously claimed it for games played in October and November in 2018.

As head coach of the Raptors, Nurse holds a career record of 73-28.

Toronto next plays on Tuesday against the Miami Heat.
