Raptors’ Nurse: Anunoby ‘about 10 days away’ from return

NBA insider Marc Spears discusses what this amazing Raptors run to the NBA Championships is doing to how the U.S. market sees Toronto, finally putting this city and country on the basketball map.

Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse told reporters on Monday that forward OG Anunoby is “about 10 days” away from playing.

Anunoby, 21, has been out of the Raptors lineup since before the NBA playoffs got underway due to an emergency appendectomy. Using the timeline Nurse provided, the sophomore forward could make his return as early as Game 3 or, more likely, for Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

In an interview on the eve of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks, Nurse said on Sportsnet 590 The Fan’s Prime Time Sports that the surgery, which lasted more than three hours, was “a tough one” for Anunoby due to an infection during the procedure.

Anunoby sat out 15 games this season for various reasons including a sprained wrist, concussion-like symptoms and personal reasons. He shot 45.3 per cent in 67 games, averaging seven points and 2.9 rebounds.
