Edmonton in Raptors’ preseason plans

The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they will return to Edmonton for the first time since 1999 for a preseason game. The Raptors will play host to Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson and the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, October 21 at Rexall Place. The Raptors defeated the Vancouver Grizzlies, 110-84, in their lone Edmonton appearance October 18, 1999.

The club will also play host to 2008 Euroleague champion CSKA Moscow at Air Canada Centre on October 14. This marks the sixth consecutive preseason the Raptors have been visited by an international foe. The Raptors downed Zalgiris Kaunas from Lithuania, 105-99, last season.

Three Euroleague teams will compete in five NBA preseason games from October 10-21, 2008. The five games, which are part of the Euroleague American Tour, will be played by CSKA Moscow, FC Barcelona (Spain) and Lietuvos Rytas (Lithuania).

Prior to their stop in Alberta, the Raptors will compete in the two-day Preseason Shootout at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on October 18-19. They will join FC Barcelona, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers in the tournament.
