The Toronto Raptors have renounced the rights to forward DeAndre Daniels, the team announced Friday.

Now that his rights have been renounced, Daniels becomes an unrestricted free agent.

The six-foot-nine forward, now 25, was selected 37th overall in the 2014 NBA Entry Draft in what turned out to be a fertile second round. Eleven players chosen after Daniels have played in the NBA, and one of them — Nikola Jokic, chosen 41st overall — has the makings of a star.

Daniels himself has yet to play in the NBA or sign an NBA contract.

After playing in five games for the Raptors in the 2014 NBA Summer League, Daniels spent the 2014–15 season with the Perth Wildcats of Australia’s National Basket League, averaging 14.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in 30 games. Following a Jones fracture during the 2015-16 off-season, Daniels made eight appearances for Raptors 905 and played in a pair of 2016 NBA Summer League games.

In September 2016, Daniels signed with Dinamica Mantova in Italy where he featured in 30 regular-season games and five playoff matchups.
