The Toronto Raptors have signed and subsequently waived Canadian point guard Tyler Ennis, the NBA announced Saturday.

Should Ennis clear waivers, the Raptors would hold his affiliate player rights — making him eligible to join the Raptors 905 in the G League.

According to the The Athletic’s Blake Murphy, the Raptors’ waiving of Matt Morgan yesterday was done with the same intention.

Ennis last played in the NBA during the 2017-18 season as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 4.1 points on 42 per cent shooting from the floor in 54 games played.

The 25-year-old signed a two-year deal during the 2018 off-season with Turkish powerhouse, Fenerbahce, that included an opt-out in the second year if he had an NBA opportunity.

Ennis’ Euro League career was shortlived as he suffered what proved to be a season-ending fractured left tibia, an injury he is still working back from.
