The Toronto Raptors will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 112-107 overtime loss in Detroit when they return home on Tuesday to take on the visiting Houston Rockets as 3.5-point favourites on the NBA odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Toronto’s loss to the Pistons as a 2-point road favourite marked its second outright defeat in four outings, and extended a dismal run at the sportsbooks where the club has picked up just one ATS victory in eight contests going into Tuesday night’s Rockets vs. Raptors betting matchup at Scotiabank Arena.
While the Raptors sport the second-best straight-up record in the NBA this season, trailing only the Milwaukee Bucks, they have been a consistent disappointment to bettors. The Raptors have failed to cover in more than three straight contests this season, and now sport a 29th-ranked 26-37-1 ATS record, leading only the Golden State Warriors.
Home games have provided no relief from the club’s recent ATS swoon. The Raptors have covered just twice in their past eight home dates, but have fared slightly better as slim betting chalk, going 6-3 SU and ATS in their past nine at home while favoured by four or less points, according to the OddsShark NBA Database.
Toronto has also largely dominated when facing Western Conference opponents on home hardwood, winning SU in seven straight to improve to 10-2 SU on the season. In addition, the team has covered in four of seven after failing to pay out in their first five clashes with visitors from the West.
However, the Raptors have produced mixed results in recent dates with Houston, going 3-1 SU and ATS in their past four overall meetings, but just 1-2 SU and ATS in the Rockets’ past three visits to Toronto.
The Rockets are coming off a decisive 115-104 win in Boston on Sunday to extend their current SU win streak to five games, while improving to 6-2 SU over their past eight away contests. Houston has also risen to the occasion of late when pegged as a road underdog, winning outright in its past three including Sunday’s victory at the Celtics as a 2-point underdog.
Despite their recent strong play, though, the Rockets continue to lag in fifth place in the Western Conference standings, one game back of both Portland and Oklahoma City, but have stayed strong on the NBA betting futures, trailing only the Warriors as a +650 wager to claim the Western Conference title.
