The Toronto Raptors won their Summer League opener in convincing fashion, defeating the Sacramento Kings 88-47 behind a dominant defensive performance on Friday.

Toronto (1-0) held Sacramento (0-1) to 28 per cent shooting on the night, limiting the Kings to just one made field goal in the third quarter.

Norman Powell paced the Raptors with 13 points while first-round pick Pascal Siakam netted 12 before exiting with a knee sprain. Bruno Caboclo contributed 11 points in the victory. Three Kings finished with seven points, including big man Willie Cauley-Stein.

Next up for the Raptors is a matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
