The Toronto Raptors have agreed to terms with Marcus Camby on a buyout of the final two years of his contract and have placed him on waivers.
Teams will have 48 hours to put in a claim on Camby’s services before he will become an unrestricted free agent.
It is uncertain what the terms of the agreement are but Camby is owed $7.5 million over the next two seasons.
Camby, 39, was acquired by the Raptors on July 10 from the New York Knicks along with Quentin Richardson, Steve Novak, a first-round draft pick and two second-round picks in exchange for Andrea Bargnani.
It was never expected that Camby would suit up for the Raptors again, as the 6-foot-11 centre stated his desire to play for a contender.
Camby was drafted second overall by the Toronto Raptors in 1996 and spent two seasons in Toronto before being dealt to New York. Camby went on to spent time in Denver, Portland, Los Angeles (with the Clippers) and Houston before returning to the Knicks last summer.
With the Raptors having amnestied Linas Kleiza on Tuesday, the roster is down to 13 players including Richardson, who also appears unlikely to see the floor in Toronto.
The team is still searching for a veteran point guard to back up Kyle Lowry.
