While the past two days has seen some of today’s NBA stars take in unthinkably large sums of dough in free agency, at least one former all-star is in a giving mood.

Noted sneaker afficianado Ray Allen is holding a scavenger hunt in Hartford, Conn. today. And the bounty? That’s right Sneakers. Possibly used.

It all started a couple of days ago, when the 39 year-old 10-time All-Star took to his Instagram page with the following cryptic warning:

Sure enough, the next day, it was game on! Allen began to hide his old kicks in various places, like behind a park bench:

But, to be honest, Allen could’ve been a little more creative with his clues:

Though, in fairness, he’s right. We all know that building.

It’s unclear exactly how many pairs the two-time NBA champion dispersed around the greater Hartford area. What is clear: this is what happens when you retire before 40.
