Report: Baron Davis eyeing comeback, to sign D-League contract

Say it ain't so, former NBA star Baron Davis has been away from the game for 4 years, but is going to attempt a comeback.

Baron Davis is expected to sign a contract with the Developmental League in hopes of returning to the NBA, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears.

The 36-year-old point guard will have to enter the D-League’s player pool upon signing his contract. Based on the D-League waiver order, the affiliates of the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks will have first priority.

The Mavericks worked out Davis last Sunday in Los Angeles, but according to his agent he has no preference where he plays.

A two-time all-star, Davis last played in the NBA during the 2011-12 season as a member of the New York Knicks and averaged 6.1 points and 4.7 assists in 20.5 minutes over 29 games. Davis averaged 16.1 points, 7.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game over the course of his 15-year career.
