The Chicago Bulls are hiring Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas to take on the franchise’s new executive vice-president of basketball operations position, according to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski reports the Bulls and Karnisovas are finalizing a multi-year deal.
He added that Karnisovas, who’s been GM of the Nuggets since June 2017, will be tasked with hiring a new general manager — Gar Forman has held the role in Chicago since 2009 — and reconfiguring the front office.
The Bulls also reportedly interviewed Bryan Colangelo for the position and were eyeing Toronto Raptors general manager Bobby Webster.
Chicago had a 22-43 record and was poised to miss the playoffs for the third straight year before the NBA hit pause on the 2019-20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
