Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade and the Los Angeles Lakers have mutual interest in each other, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix is reporting.
Wade has a player option for next season that he is expected to opt out of.
The 33-year-old has spent his entire 12-season career with the Heat, but there has been word that he and the Heat aren’t close in contract extension negotiations.
During the course of his career the 11-time all-star has taken several discounts to accommodate the Heat, but he may be fed up with doing that now.
The Lakers have room for a maximum contract should Wade opt to bolt South Beach for Hollywood.
Last season, he averaged 21.5 points, and 4.8 assists per game on 47 percent shooting in 62 games played with Miami.
