Marco Belinelli is finalizing a buyout agreement with the Atlanta Hawks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 31-year-old guard is averaging 11.4 points per game on 41 per cent shooting in 52 games this season for the Hawks, who are 17-38 and in the midst of a rebuild. Belinelli is also shooting over 37 per cent from beyond the three-point line.
The Italian was rumoured to be on the trade block ahead of Thursday’s deadline, but a deal never came to fruition. Pending his buyout, Belinelli could be a valuable addition for contending teams looking for bench depth.
Teams would have until March 1 to sign Belinelli once his buyout becomes official.
