Disgruntled Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler reportedly made waves in his return to practice Wednesday, verbally challenging teammates Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, head coach Tom Thibodeau and general manager Scott Layden.
Butler requested a trade from Minnesota last month after growing unhappy with his situation with the team. He was most recently linked to the Miami Heat, but trade talks reportedly “fell apart” over the weekend.
Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has allegedly pushed Thibodeau and Layden to work out a trade sooner rather than later.
The 29-year-old Butler has two years remaining on a five-year, $92-million deal he signed with the Chicago Bulls, however the final year of the contract is a player option. He averaged 22.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 59 games with the Timberwolves in 2017-18.
