The Kawhi Leonard trade is now official after the forward passed his physical, reports ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. The Toronto Raptors acquired the superstar, along with Danny Green, in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a draft pick on July 19.
Leonard played in just nine games this past season, dealing with an injury to his right quadriceps.
His handling of the injury, after being cleared by San Antonio Spurs staff to return to the court, was a source of much consternation between he and the Spurs, leading to his eventual trade to Toronto.
The 27-year-old could opt out of his contract and become a free agent after next season.
