The Sacramento Kings will acquire Harrison Barnes from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Zach Randolph and Justin Jackson, according Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Adding Barnes gives the Kings a reliable scorer at the wing position, an area of weakness on the roster prior to this expected deal. In a down year, Barnes is averaging 17.8 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 39 per cent from three-point range. He is shooting a career-low 41.9 per cent inside the arc.

Dallas puts themselves in the running for just enough cap room for a max contract with this deal, depending on what draft selection they end up with this summer. Barnes is on contract for $24.1 million this year and has a player option worth $25.1 million for the 2019-20 season.

Randolph is in the final year of a two-year deal worth $24 million while Jackson is still on a rookie deal worth just under $3 million this season.

Wojnarowski also reported that the Kings’ preference is to have Barnes opt out of his ’19-20 extension and negotiate a long-term extension.
